DELANO, Kern County — October 23, 2026. An official City of Delano record provides the key facts below. This report separates current bidding deadlines, proposed government actions and published service guidance from confirmed final outcomes.
What does the rider guide say?
The City of Delano’s DART Fixed Routes page states that all DART services have been free of charge since July 1, 2022, until further notice. It also lists four fixed routes beginning from Delano Transit Center at 1120 Glenwood Street, with standard weekday and Saturday service. This sounds straightforward—but the city’s other public information is inconsistent.
What is the conflicting information?
A separate Delano Fares, Tickets, Passes and Transfers page lists a $1.50 general fixed-route fare, a $0.75 reduced fare and paid passes, while the Delano Dial-A-Ride fare page also displays charges for some riders. A city FAQ contains still another set of dollar values. These pages cannot all be treated as a reliable current price list without an effective-date clarification.
What should riders do?
Call Delano Area Rapid Transit at 661-721-3333 before a trip to confirm today’s fixed-route fare, Dial-A-Ride fare, pass rules, special senior transportation benefits and eligibility. The city’s DART pages identify wheelchair-accessible buses and separate reserved Dial-A-Ride service. A fare-free fixed route does not necessarily mean every service outside Delano city limits is free.
Why publish this clarification?
Conflicting transit information can discourage people who need rides to work, medical appointments or public programs. We are explicitly distinguishing what multiple official pages say rather than inventing a single fare. The city should publish a unified, dated fare table. Residents can send a current transit notice or written agency clarification to our newsroom for a sourced update.
